STEM day in Hassloch: inspiring future talent
Our metal production facility in Hassloch, Germany recently became a laboratory for innovation when, in partnership with Siebenpfeiffer Realschule plus and Wissensfabrik, the facility hosted a hands-on STEM day that brought future skills, sustainability, and career orientation together under one roof.
The day began with a series of focused presentations that connected Ardagh’s global education strategy with its local impact in Germany. Active on four continents, Ardagh for Education invests in communities, teachers and the next generation of problem solvers, with the aim of reaching over 1.2 million learners. In Germany, Ardagh has partnered with 160 schools, trained over 570 teachers and reached 24,000 students, building bridges between the classroom and our production facilities.
These partnerships are particularly important given that Germany faces a shortage of 163,000 skilled STEM workers. In 2025, 40% of new Ardagh apprentices in Germany came from Wissensfabrik-connected schools. The Haßloch facility took on two apprentices in 2025, both of whom joined from Wissensfabrik schools.
During the STEM day, students explored digital fundamentals and programming basics using IT2School materials, while the City4Future workshop turned the classroom into a design-thinking space as teams engaged in role play to simulate electrical energy production, transportation, consumption and storage.
The event in Hassloch was more than a local success – it was a showcase of Ardagh’s broader commitment to education, with the participation of leaders from both AMP and AGP highlighting the group’s unified approach to talent development.
“Ardagh for Education is our contribution to the future – for young people, for the region, and for industry. We invest in education because we believe that strengthening STEM skills today secures innovation and jobs tomorrow,” said Vincent Lefevre, CEO, Ardagh Metal Packaging-Europe.
Martin Petersson, CEO, Ardagh Glass Packaging-Europe, added: “Industry, schools, and network partners working hand in hand – that’s what makes the difference. We take responsibility by offering young people practical opportunities, empowering teachers, and fostering future skills. This commitment is not only a contribution to education but also a clear pledge to the region and a strong, skilled workforce.”
