Library of the Future opens in Alagoinhas
Published June 27, 2024
Biblioteca do Futuro (Library of the Future), opened in the Irene Andrade de Assis Municipal School in Alagoinhas, Brazil, housing a collection of 850 books. Sponsored by AMP-South America and project-managed by Rede Educare, this initiative is part of AMP’s global sustainability strategy: to actively promote and support community engagement across our organisation, with a particular focus on educational development in all communities in which we operate.
The new library will provide access to reading materials for the school’s 632 kindergarten and elementary education students (aged between 4 and 14), starting the children on a path to greater knowledge through reading. The primary goal is to promote environmental and scientific education in an inviting space, enabling students and educators to engage with sustainability topics such as renewable energy and the water cycle to name a few, through books and other educational materials that address important themes for the present and future of our planet.
AMP’s Director of Sustainability, Elisângela Matos, explained that this initiative returns value to the Alagoinhas community, reinforcing AMP’s commitment to sustainability and the education of children and adolescents.
