Celebrating Girls Day at AMP-Enzesfeld
Published June 26, 2022
The first “Girls Day” in Austria took place in 2001 to give girls a new perspective of the working world, with the opportunity to visit companies involved in technology, manufacturing, sciences, crafts or IT. Our team in Enzesfeld, Austria hosted “Girls Day” where local schoolgirls visited our metal beverage can production facility to learn about our manufacturing process.
The Enzesfeld team hosted four teenage girls and their teacher. AMP–Europe Quality Manager, Burkhard Steurer gave the girls an overview of aluminium production, beverage can production, AMP’s sustainability strategy and our Apprenticeship Programme. After listening to the facility safety instructions, the girls were eager to visit the production area to see can-making in action. They were especially impressed with seeing how pallets of cans were moved by forklifts and the various designs of cans we create for our customers.
Following the facility tour by the Head of Label Care, Melanie Jeitler – Operator, Marion Rennhofer gave them an overview of their work and explained what it means to work in the metal beverage can industry. The girls had many questions on how to secure a job in manufacturing. Burkhard Steurer encouraged them to get in touch with Ardagh about the Apprenticeship Programme when they leave school in a couple of years.
