Ardagh Metal Packaging Delivers Sustainability Strategy Progress
Published September 22, 2022
Ardagh Metal Packaging S.A. (AMP) has published its Sustainability Update Report. Since refreshing its sustainability strategy in July 2020, AMP is initiating key actions to achieve newly defined objectives within the three key pillars of Emissions, Ecology and Social. This report provides stakeholders with a comprehensive overview of how these pillars are guiding the integration of sustainability throughout the business while driving and sustaining growth.
While this report covers the calendar year 2021, it should be noted that AMP has recently received approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reduction targets. Prior to publication of this report, Ardagh Group (which includes both the cans and glass packaging businesses) has also been awarded the prestigious platinum rating – the highest sustainability ranking awarded by EcoVadis. The certified approval of these targets by such leading sustainability organisations further confirms Ardagh’s announced alignment with the UN and Paris Climate Agreement of 2015 in achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
“Ardagh Metal Packaging is aligning its team across aggressive environmental and social objectives that, in turn, support our customer’s own sustainability platforms,” said Jennifer Cumbee, Chief Sustainability Officer, AMP. “This latest update further details how we are building on the inherent environmental strengths of infinitely recyclable beverage cans to deliver on such objectives as materials, emissions, waste, water and energy efficiencies while improving the communities we do business in.”
